Spa Ozone & UV Systems: What They Do—and What They Don’t

Ozone and UV can be supplemental water-care technologies in spa pools where the specific model is equipped with them. They should not be treated as a replacement for normal water testing, filtration, sanitiser management or the product’s water-care instructions.

What an Ozone System Does

Ozone is used as an oxidising aid in some spa water-care systems. Its exact design, output and maintenance requirements depend on the equipment fitted to the spa. Do not assume that every spa includes an ozonator.

What a UV System Does

UV systems expose circulating water to ultraviolet light within a dedicated chamber. They can form part of a broader water-treatment system, but effectiveness depends on the system design, water flow, lamp condition and maintenance.

Do Ozone or UV Replace Sanitiser?

No blanket claim should be made that ozone or UV eliminates the need for sanitiser. Spa water still needs to be tested and maintained according to the spa manual, chemical-product directions and applicable water-care guidance.

Do They Always Reduce Chemical Use?

Actual chemical demand depends on factors such as bather load, water temperature, contamination, filtration, water balance, the treatment equipment fitted and the sanitising programme. We therefore do not promise a fixed percentage reduction in chemical use.

Health Claims

Ozone and UV equipment should not be marketed as a guarantee against infection, illness, allergies or skin irritation. Safe spa ownership still depends on appropriate sanitation, water balance, maintenance and sensible use.

How to Compare a Spa

Check whether the exact model and selected variant publish ozone or UV equipment, what maintenance it requires and how it integrates with the recommended sanitising system. Product specifications can change, so use the current live product page as the source of truth.
